Responsibilities:
The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Marketing is responsible for the strategy which attracts and enrolls the desired number of students for University of Rochester School of Nursing academic programs while ensuring that the appropriate mix of students across programs is optimal. In this capacity, the Director is responsible for the development of a comprehensive strategy that will enable the school to meet enrollment targets by program with students meeting appropriate academic standards. The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Marketing oversees daily processing, leads and develops a dynamic team of admissions professionals, and establishes and maintains best practices in Admissions and Recruitment. Additionally, working closely with the University Office of Marketing and Communications, the Director will oversee and coordinate SON’s enrolment marketing strategy. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Finance & Operations, the Director assumes responsibilities for the overall management, direction, and functioning of the Admissions Office.
In addition, the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management will work closely with School of Nursing leadership to evaluate specific programs that are undersubscribed. This requires close collaboration and shared priorities between the academic leadership, admissions office, administration, and program directors. The Director also works closely with the Director of Student Affairs to ensure the seamless transition and engagement of students from admission to program completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Admissions
+ Direct all phases of the admissions process: review applications for admissions for undergraduate and graduate programs and make final recommendations for admission and financial aid decisions. Lead Admissions Committee on all related application process decisions.
+ Maintain and continuously improve high standards for the school-wide holistic admission review process.
+ Generate and utilize ongoing analysis of holistic admission process including effects of variables on matriculation.
+ Work collaboratively with faculty and School of Nursing Committees to oversee admissions policies.
+ Manage net tuition revenue targets. Work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure balance in the entering class size, financial aid expenditures, tuition pricing, and net tuition revenue goals.
+ Long-term strategic planning: Guide strategic discussions regarding multiple and often competing enrollment goals, including class size, academic quality and net tuition revenue. Provide context and a broad perspective on national and international market dynamics and challenges.
+ Assess the effectiveness of the University of Rochester’s School of Nursing financial aid policies and strategies. Evaluate the effectiveness of discounting strategies in attracting and enrolling a talented student body. Determine ways to effectively leverage institutional and other resources for incoming and returning students.
+ Maintain annual admissions bulletin.
Enrollment Marketing and Strategy
+ Develop and sustain a comprehensive enrollment strategy. Provide strong, consistent, and strategic direction for the recruitment and enrollment process, focusing on sustained, ethical, desired enrollment and revenue results.
+ Inform the School of Nursing community of important enrollment metrics for incoming students and the possible effects and consequences of proposed actions.
+ Working closely with University Enrollment Marketing, ensure SON’s enrollment market strategy is effective at reaching desired potential students.
+ Create and sustain a culture of shared ownership of admissions and enrollment marketing. Educate the faculty and SON community about best practices in admission and enrollment management and provide a strong, knowledgeable, and influential voice in identifying pertinent national issues and trends in nursing enrollment.
Reporting, Research, and Budgeting
+ Conduct research in admissions and enrollment management with a focus on understanding the applicant pool and factors in selection and attrition.
+ Complete required internal, governmental, and association reports pertaining to admissions.
+ In collaboration with the admissions team, create and present a yearly competitor analysis to administrative leadership.
+ Provide enrollment and forecasting reports as requested by senior leadership. Includes presenting to SON Senior Leadership on enrollment cycle results.
+ Collaborate with administration in annual budget preparation and other financial requests.
Communication and Visibility
+ Represent the School of Nursing and serve as the primary spokesperson in dealing with matters relating to admission. Oversee office engagement with colleges and medical centers within the community.
+ Serve on special internal and external committees that pertain to the student enrollment management process.
+ Keep abreast of trends as they pertain to the admissions field attending meetings, workshops, and seminars.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of higher education experience required
+ Master’s degree in higher education student services, higher education administration, nursing, or related field preferred. Six years of related senior administrative experience in admissions preferred.
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ The successful candidate will have senior-level admissions and enrollment management and/or experience in higher education with a proven track record of success. Specific areas of expertise include managing conversion and yield strategies, increasing applications and enrollments through innovative market outreach and building professional networks and student pipelines, and experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Candidates must be highly collaborative and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated creativity and flexibility to respond to emerging and changing enrollment environments is strongly preferred. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is preferred (i.e. SLATE).
