    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the management and strategies of Technical Entertainment in the High-Risk disciplines of Rigging/Staging, SPFX & Pyrotechnics. Duties include planning and directing job assignments for live shows, events and guest-experiences from concept, planning through installation &operation. Identifying and mitigating risk elements while maintaining the creative intent of the offering. Develops overall plans to ensure show quality of entertainment offerings and staffing strategies and career paths for their reports.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Accountable for the technical development and execution for all assigned projects assuring that it meets Universal Orlando Entertainment standards. Oversee all the planning of events, shows and guest experiences partnering with Production Management and Show Direction to meet budgets, creative intent and scheduled timelines. Develop overall strategy for technical entertainment within venues, events and guest experience as it pertains to technician responsibilities as well as management duties.

    + Partner with teams in UDX Creative Core, UOR Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure compliance with all established company standards and obtaining approvals for show elements. Including but not limited to Overhead Safety, Structural Integrity, Pyrotechnics, Fireworks, Flame & Special Effects, and Stunt Elements. Interface with Local, State & Federal Agency (AHJ’s) to obtain necessary Permits.

    + Develop and/or review required documentation before submission to the respective internal departments or Governmental Agencies.

    + Develop and/or review safety inspection report for accuracy and completion within the allotted timeframes.

    + Creating and maintaining a document database for traceability and archiving technical entertainment set ups, system installations both permanent and temporary.

    + Manage the priorities, workflow, scheduling, estimating and quality control of technical inventory control, maintenance, facility upkeep, discipline classes. Conduct Technical Reviews of Events and Marquee Programs addressing notes and communicating back to the teams involved.

    + Communicates and ensures that their teams are following Universal Orlando Resorts company and department initiatives, direction and compliance. Creating a plan and process for the team to adhere and apply these into the job duties, installations and operations of entertainment offerings.

    + Allocate resources and personnel for assigned projects by attracting, developing and retaining top talent. Create training programs for the technical discipline assigned to the Senior Manager.

    + Responsible for communicating and partnering with interdepartmental teams any impacts from the technical installs to areas in the park both front of house and back of house. Collaborating on solutions that affect those areas.

    + Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    SCOPE:

    Manages a team of Technical Management and hourly staff, assists the Technical Entertainment Executives in goals, development and business management of the department.

    EDUCATION:

    + Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Theatrical Technical Disciplines, Engineering, Trades, Theatre Management or equivalent experience within the Entertainment industry or Fire Safety industry.

    EXPERIENCE:

    + Professional Technical Theatrical Industry management experience required.

    + 7+ years cumulative experience in Technical Entertainment Discipline Management including but not limited to Audio, Video, Lighting, SPFX, Rigging, Show Control, Stage Shows and Concerts.

    + Or combination of experience and education.
