The Maintenance Supervisor/Millwright position is responsible for leading the maintenance team and performing hands-on mechanical maintenance in a heavy equipment manufacturing plant. Starting wage $28-$34 depending on experience.
This role supports large-scale fabrication, assembly, machining, and test operations by ensuring all plant machinery, material handling systems, and production equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The position balances leadership responsibilities with advanced millwright work in a demanding industrial environment.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians and millwrights in a heavy manufacturing environment
+ Assign, prioritize, and track daily work orders to support production schedules and critical path equipment
+ Enforce safety policies, including lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and crane/rigging procedures
+ Coordinate closely with production, engineering, quality, and safety teams to minimize downtime and support throughput
+ Support staffing, shift coverage, overtime planning, and performance evaluations
+ Able to work in a variety of different working conditions
+ Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heavy industrial equipment, including:
+ CNC and manual machining centers, fabrication equipment, press brakes, rollers, and saws
+ Overhead cranes, hoists, and material handling systems
+ Gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment
+ Perform precision alignment, leveling, welding, fabrication, and equipment rigging for large machinery
+ Diagnose mechanical failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions
+ Lead preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs to support up-time and equipment life
+ Support plant shutdowns, equipment rebuilds, line moves, and new equipment installations
+ Assist with capital improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives, automotive repair and building maintenance.
+ Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair histories within the MRP
+ Support spare parts management, critical spares identification, and vendor coordination
+ Recommend equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, and cost-saving maintenance strategies
+ Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable industry standards
Position Requirements:
+ 5+ years of maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment
+ Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience
+ Strong mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals
+ Extensive knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment and electrical (120v-480v)
+ Welding certification (MIG, TIG, Stick)
+ Experience supporting overhead cranes and rigging operations
+ Experience with MRP systems
+ Electrical troubleshooting and basic PLC knowledge
+ Experience in heavy equipment, steel fabrication, or large-scale manufacturing operations
+ Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
+ High level of mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a production-driven environment
+ Strong focus on safety, quality, and equipment reliability
