Position Summary
The Regional Safety Specialist is responsible for the implementation and administration of the corporate safety program in both the Conco facilities and at the jobsite/areas within their assigned region. Build relationships with customer safety departments and obtain critical site safety specific requirements and equipment needed to perform work safely. Ensure crews stay in compliance with company safe work practices. Develop and conduct training as needed. Conduct incident investigations, case manage, determine root causes, create corrective actions, and see corrective actions all the way through. Be available to respond to incidents during non-business hours, including travel out of state with short notice and potential for overnight stays.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Interprets safety rules, regulations, and procedures for management and employees.
+ Assists with the development, implementation, and on-going maintenance of safety programs.
+ Implements and coordinates Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) activities including OSHA logs.
+ Develop and grow relationships with customer safety departments.
+ Contact customers to collect all site-specific safety related information needed to conduct the job safely and in accordance with customer expectations.
+ Create Emergency Action Plans/Safe Work Plans.
+ Expected to build trust with employees by engagement and finding creative/proactive ways to add value.
+ May assist with the administration of the State Workers’ Compensation Laws, incident investigations, incident prevention programs, claims processing, preparation of reports, record keeping, and CAPA tracking and closing.
+ Conduct safety audits, monitoring, risk & hazard assessment required to ensure compliance and employee competencies in HSE.
+ Administers the development and presentation of employee safety training programs, including new hire, general safety, CPR/1st Aid, hazardous materials, defensive driving, and OSHA regulated training.
+ Investigate accidents and near-misses to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety programs (CAPAs).
+ Company liaison with Conco’s customers on safety-related matters including safety meetings, pre-job safety walks through and on-site safety evaluations and inspections.
+ Travel to field locations and monitor safety of employees and equipment and make recommendations related to findings.
+ Complete all customer required safety pre-qualification packets on an as needed basis.
+ Effectively communicate and update internal systems and departments with customer safety requirements.
+ Prepare monthly reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action & retraining as deemed necessary.
+ Keeps current on OSHA standards, activities and recent decisions that might affect policies and programs, through reading governmental and professional publications and attending seminars.
+ Liaisons with other professional and regulatory organizations in the safety and environmental fields.
+ Adhere to Employee’s Responsibilities section set forth in Conco’s Safety Policies & Procedure Manual.

Experience & Education
+ Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related degree preferred.
+ Preference for candidates with knowledge in environmental management and CalOSHA.
+ A minimum of 3+ years previous HSE experience with a strong preference for environmental, petro-chemical, industrial industry experience.
+ Must be authorized to work within the United States.
+ Must meet requirements to obtain/maintain a TWIC.
+ Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
+ Current safety certification from a recognized certifying body preferred, such as CSST, CHST, OHST, or GSP/ASP/CSP, or minimum eligibility requirements met
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and various office equipment (such as printers, phones, and fax machines) to complete assigned duties.
+ Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
+ Adequate vision (with or without correction) to read documents, emails, and work on a computer screen.
+ Sufficient hearing to engage in conversations and participate in phone calls and meetings.
+ Occasionally lift and carry files or office supplies up to 25 pounds.
+ Occasional walking, standing, and bending to perform tasks, access files, or attend meetings.
+ Ability to work in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels, varying temperatures, and exposure to computers.
+ Frequent lifting or moving of materials up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to work in environmental extremes such as heat, cold, air pollution, dust, rain, etc. in an industrial environment.
+ The ability to crouch, kneel, balance, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, climb, twist, squat, sit and stand.
+ Utilize Respirators (1/2 & full face) and all other PPE as required and dictated by customer specifications.
+ Physically submit to periodic drug, background, and clearance screenings (employment is contingent upon favorable results).
Work Environment
The work environment is a mix of office-base and field-base. Daily responsibilities include using a computer, handling documents, and engaging in virtual or in-person meetings. This position will also require visits to the field, including customer sites, Conco owned shops, and any other facilities where Conco employees may be working at. There could be times when this position is assigned to a specific job site for more than one day, in any area of their region.
