Job Title: Technical DesignerJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Technical Designer to execute project deliverables within the allotted time frame, as coordinated by the project manager. You will coordinate documentation that captures design decisions, addressing the 3D space holistically, including functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and the integration of materials, volumes, and performance of the space.
Responsibilities
+ Execute project deliverables in accordance with the project schedule.
+ Coordinate documentation to capture design decisions and address 3D space requirements.
+ Problem-solve conflicts with spatial, program, design, and construction standards to align with design intent.
+ Create design documentation during Schematic to Construction Administration phases under project manager oversight.
+ Utilize CAD drafting and coordinate with vendors for design documentation.
+ Ensure design documentation abides by standard construction methods and design detailing.
+ Collaborate with the design team to resolve issues during the documentation process.
+ Coordinate and execute custom furniture and fixture details in line with design direction.
+ Review drawings from outside consultants, including architects, drafting, millwork, and custom furniture.
+ Assist in the creation of redlines.
+ Support project manager and/or job captain with shop drawing review, submittals, and RFIs.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, specifically for restaurant design projects.
+ Technical architecture experience with a focus on hospitality.
+ Experience leading construction administration for restaurant projects.
+ Strong skills in architecture, design, interior architecture, drafting, and design development.
+ Experience with construction documentation and millwork.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design.
+ 4-6 years of relevant experience within the restaurant/custom hospitality market.
+ Experience managing and coordinating projects across multiple teams.
+ Ability to produce millwork drawings in AutoCAD.
+ Familiarity with SketchUp for interpreting renderings is a plus.
Work Environment
This role is based in a beautiful, lively office located on the outskirts of West Loop. The environment is open concept and dog-friendly, with in-person meetings regularly held with clients and vendors. The work schedule includes Monday to Thursday in-office, with Fridays remote. Flex hours are available for commuters. The team enjoys a brewery across the street for outings and team meetings. Additionally, there is an annual summer retreat for team bonding. Projects are entirely custom, and the company is expanding into new markets. Benefits include 10 days of PTO in the first year, increasing with tenure, holiday pay, and a week off between Christmas and New Year's. The average workweek is 42-45 hours, with potential for increased hours during deadlines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27/hr.
