The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves executing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Fully understand all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport.
+ Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place samples in the appropriate collection containers/tubes.
+ Accurately label and follow procedures necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of phlebotomy experience
+ Proficiency in venipuncture and blood draw techniques
+ Specimen processing
+ Strong customer service skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with both pediatric and geriatric patients is preferred.
+ Efficient use of computer systems for processing specimens.
Work Environment
This position is part of a new account at an IOP, Reliance Family Care. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. The role involves 30-40 draws per day, working with patients of all age groups.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McDonough, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
