Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
The Apprenticeship & Training Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing all facilities maintenance training and union apprenticeship programs (IBEW / IAM). This role ensures the organization maintains a skilled, certified, and future-ready maintenance workforce through structured training programs, vendor/OEM coordination, and continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities - Apprenticeship Programs
+ Lead the IBEW and IAM apprenticeship programs.
+ Represent the company on union apprenticeship and training teams.
+ Coordinate apprentice progression, evaluations, certifications, and completions.
+ Ensure compliance with labor agreements and regulatory requirements.
Facilities Technical Training
+ Develop and maintain facilities maintenance technical training programs.
+ Partner with facilities leadership to identify training gaps and solutions.
+ Establish standardized training paths for onboarding, progression, and advanced skills.
+ Coordinate OEM, vendor, and internal technical training.
+ Oversee certification training sessions and product demonstrations.
+ Track training completion and effectiveness.
Coordination & Governance
+ + Coordinate training activities across facilities, engineering, safety, HR, and vendors.
+ Maintain training documentation and reporting.
+ Ensure alignment with company policies, employee data requirements, and applicable laws.
Qualifications
Requirements
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities organization or training
+ Minimum 5 years of experience managing/supervising a team of 20 or more employees
+ Minimum 5 years in a leadership/management experience (industry or military)
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment over Facilities
+ Experience reviewing, delivering or monitoring production metrics
+ Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
+ Working experience with multiple cross functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, Facilities etc.)
+ Prior management level experience reporting out to Senior Leadership on department production status
+ Flexibility working 2nd, 3rd or alternative work week shifts
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role
+ Prior Military experience (management or leadership)
+ Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere
+ Understanding of supervising Union employees
+ Experience with Facilities maintenance or machining
+ Experience working in a 24/7 operations environment
+ Ability to coach and develop team
+ (CFM) Certified Facilities Manager, (SFP) Sustainability Facilities Professional, or (FMP) Facilities Management Professional certifications.
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $78,650 - $120,600
