Job Title: SOX Consultant
Job Description
We are seeking a talented SOX Consultant to develop and implement accounting processes and controls from scratch. The successful candidate will be responsible for SOX testing and will lead efforts in financial reporting, revenue recognition, and inventory controls. This role will involve preparing and guiding the team through journal entries, supporting documentation, and ensuring SOX compliance. Additionally, the consultant will train and mentor team members on proper documentation and control procedures, collaborate with external accountants for month-end close, and work with internal audit teams. The use of ERP systems to generate reports and support financial operations is a key aspect of this role. You will drive change management and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement accounting processes and controls from scratch.
+ Conduct SOX testing and ensure compliance.
+ Lead financial reporting, revenue recognition, and inventory controls.
+ Prepare and guide the team through journal entries and support documentation.
+ Train and mentor team members on documentation and control procedures.
+ Collaborate with external accountants and internal audit teams.
+ Utilize ERP systems to generate reports and support financial operations.
+ Drive change management and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in hands-on accounting roles.
+ Strong understanding of journal entries, ERP systems, and internal controls.
+ 5–7+ years of experience in SEC reporting.
+ Experience in both private and public accounting (Big 4 preferred).
+ Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and XBRL.
+ Strong analytical and communication skills.
+ Proficiency in ERP and financial reporting systems.
+ Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
+ CPA preferred.
Work Environment
This position offers the flexibility of remote or hybrid work, pending candidate preference. Candidates who choose to work remotely must be able to work efficiently and excel in communication.

This is a Contract position based out of Oldsmar, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
