    $60/hr | Santa Barbara, CA | Onsite | 25-Week Contract

    Position Overview

    The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality instructional services to special education students from kindergarten through grade 12. This position specifically supports preschool-aged students and requires a strong commitment to collaborative team participation in the planning and implementation of individualized student programs, including special instruction, developmental support, and consultation with general education staff.

    Assignment Details

    + Location: Santa Barbara, CA

    + Start Date: January 19, 2026

    + End Date: Approximately 25 weeks from start

    + Duration: 25-week contract

    + Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

    + Hours: 40 hours per week

    + Pay Rate: $60 per hour

    + Modality: Onsite

    + Travel: N/A

    + Openings: 1

    Caseload & Classroom Details

    + Student Population: Preschool / Early Childhood

    + Credential Required: ECSE (Early Childhood Special Education)

    + Classroom Size:

    + Currently 5 students

    + May grow to approximately 8–19 students

    + Classroom Type: Early Childhood Special Education

    Primary Responsibilities

    + Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to preschool-aged students with special needs

    + Support students’ cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and communication development

    + Plan and implement individualized instructional programs

    + Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments to monitor progress

    + Collaborate with general education staff and multidisciplinary teams

    + Maintain documentation in compliance with applicable standards

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred

    + Valid California teaching credential as required by state and contract regulations

    + ECSE credential required

    + Prior experience working with preschool or pre-K students preferred

    + State Teacher Certification (preferred):

    + Standard Elementary Teaching

    + Standard Secondary Teaching

    + Standard Special Teaching

    + Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

    + Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice

    + CPR certification if applicable

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray per requirements

    + Current health certificate per state or contract regulations

    + Immunizations required: MMR, Tdap, TB

    + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

    + Must be at least 18 years of age
