+ Must possess EPA Section 608 certification
+ Must possess employment experience as a HVAC /R mechanic, exhibiting
+ knowledge of HVAC /R principles and skill in HVAC /R troubleshooting and repair
+ Must demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
+ Must possess the ability and willingness to communicate professionally and effectively with university staff, faculty, student, guests, and contractors
Preferred Qualifications
+ 4+ years of employment as a HVAC /R mechanic
+ Experience in higher education and/or government
+ Experience leading a crew/team of HVAC /R mechanics
Job Description
Responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and repair of
university HVAC /R systems to ensure efficient operation.
Job Duties
+ Check air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment in buildings. Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, as assigned. Knowledge of refrigerant recovery and system charging.
+ Perform preventative maintenance, as assigned.
+ Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electrical, electronic controls and DDC and variable frequency drives.
+ Install new equipment, duct work, pipe work, and insulation as needed.
+ Order parts as needed.
+ Diagnose, repair, and replace electric motors.
+ Complete work orders and log sheets. Use work order software as intended in real time, update status as needed, record accurate notes.
+ Monitor email, phone, and texts and respond as promptly as possible.
+ Train and mentor other HVAC techs; Monitor work done by other HVAC technicians to ensure it is done properly and to university standards.
+ Recognize issues while working in buildings. Communicate issues to the HVAC shop supervisor in a timely manner.
+ Complies with all state and university policies.
+ Works various schedules and is required to be on call.
+ Required to carry a cell phone.
+ Operate and maintain cleanliness of university vehicle.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information to Applicants
Must be willing to work on call on a rotating basis with other shop personnel.
