    Summary

    This position will be responsible for partnering with internal and external Project Teams during all phase(s) of construction projects in assigned market sectors or more generally as needed to foster a consistent alignment amongst design, construction, specialty consultant, and owner stakeholders within a quality set of preconstruction service offerings.

     

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Design Phase Leadership & Management

    + Provides significant support to Kraus-Anderson Construction Company’s (KACC) efforts in improving efficiency and consistency during the design phase of projects, across all construction delivery methods.

    + Leads, manages, coordinates design team schedule, coordinates between disciplines and ensures completeness of documents relative to given design phase.

    + Leads milestone reviews of consultant documents for quality and provides timely feedback (in coordination with KACC teammates) to consultants including, but not limited to, drawing clarity, questions, alternative solutions, discipline coordination, and progress versus schedule.

    + In coordination with KACC teammates, provides foresight on behalf of the owner related to constructability, long-lead and procurement challenges, alternative material and system selections that improve alignment with overall project schedule and budget constraints.

    + Supports and contributes to the establishment of best practices, controls, and billable services related to the design phase of projects.

    + Focus on project-level execution of design coordination, under strategic direction from the Director of Pre-Design Services.

    Master Planning & Market Sector Support

    + Leads KACC’s efforts in interpreting client market analysis studies to develop integrated master planning service with KACC’s Facilities Assessment and Pre-Construction Services related to assigned market sector(s).

    + Provides master planning services as appropriate.

    + Supports KACC’s efforts in educational presentations on market sector-related trends for external and internal events.

    + Maintains proactive, relevant industry knowledge to position KACC as an industry-leading contractor, as well as enhance existing offerings from the Pre-Construction Services group.

    + Execute master planning within assigned sectors under the guidance of the Director.

    Client Advisory & Delivery Method Consulting

    + Guides KACC clients in evaluating potential delivery methods for their projects, in particular Design-Build, IPD; includes assistance with RFP creation, procurement, and evaluation of design services for owners.

    + When appropriate, leads Architectural and Engineering consultant solicitation and selection when KACC is responsible for such decisions, or actively participates in solicitation and selection when requested by owner.

    + Support consultant selection and delivery method advising in coordination with the Director’s strategic lead.

    Internal & External Coordination

    + Supports the Design Phase Services team’s effort to provide KACC Operations teams with expertise related to quality management of design phase services allowing Operations teams to maintain our Single-Point-of-Contact client relationship model.

    + Collaborates with cross-functional internal partners and external design partners and serves as a conduit of information to the rest of the project team to ensure exceptional delivery of a project to the Owner’s expectations.

    + When appropriate, maintains proactive, relevant industry relationships with consulting Architectural and Engineering firms in markets that KACC provides preconstruction and construction services. Consistently monitors performance and provides feedback to appropriate parties about the current status of relationships and recommendations on consultant selection based on project parameters.

    Training, Development & Industry Engagement

    + Provides significant support in leading continuing education strategies with internal resources to ensure KACC is staying up to date on industry trends and building those resources’ awareness, literacy, and skills across the design-build spectrum, including all relevant market sectors.

    + Procures/engages in external continuing education opportunities through professional associations or consultant partners to diversify exposure and connectivity with relevant market(s).

    + Leads, facilitates, and presents at interviews, meetings, industry events, etc.

    + Contribute to training initiatives and continuing education efforts as directed.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    Assist with documentation and tracking of billable pre-design services on a project-by-project basis.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a CM/GC or A/E firm.

    + Proven ability to lead teams in the pursuit, management, and delivery of quality work, leading to longstanding and repeat clients

    + Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Office 365 – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) .

    + Well-developed business development skills to support and grow this business effort.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

    + Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

    + Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.

    + Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

    + Ability to possess and maintain exceptional work ethic as well as uphold company values and demand the highest standard of conduct from self and others.

    + Ensure that all duties follow KA’s quality and safety standards.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Professional Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management

    + Registered Architect or Professional Engineer

    Other:

    + Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

    + Travel as required for project needs.

    Physical Demands:

    + Clearly communicate information (both written and verbal) to colleagues and key stakeholders

    + Navigate between office building floors, and on occasion, attend off-site meetings

    + Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted

     

    Salary Range: $110,000 to $150,000 annually, plus auto allowance and discretionary incentive program.

     

    Pay is based on many factors including but not limited to education, skill, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.
