If so, Guardian is seeking a Data Architect to join the team responsible for establishing and maintaining an adaptable data infrastructure to provide access to high quality, consistent data in an easy and convenient manner to all authorized end users and applications of Guardian and its subsidiaries.

     

    The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the design, development and implementation of enterprise level data integrations that enable innovative data access patterns by applying a focused software development methodology and groundbreaking technologies. The candidate will display technical and functional competence in data management standards and uphold Guardian’s commitment to Guardian values.

    You Are:

    + A self-starter who is fueled by collaboration, able to transform conceptual designs into reliable, scalable processes that meet or exceed customer needs.

    + An individual who works closely with IT and business leaders across the enterprise to drive and embed the Enterprise Data Strategy into transformational roadmaps ensuring key principles of Data Governance, Data Management, Data Analytics and Architecture are implemented.

    You Will:

    + Work with an agile team to deliver and evolve the data platform services.

    + Collaborate with team members and IT and business partners to ensure functional and business specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solution designs.

    + Perform data analysis activities including data profiling, creation of data dictionaries, data transformation rules and integration requirements.

    + Design, deliver, and document multi-platform architecture with a focus on architectural standards, growth, performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security.

    + Develop, document, and maintain logical and physical data models for supported applications.

    + Coordinate across organizations as required to support data integration efforts.

    + Support and apply data standardization policies.

    + Establish and maintain the quality, supportability, and performance of all processes.

    + Play an active role in quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for data and solution initiatives by reviewing test plan, attending team meetings, and providing necessary documentation.

    + Continue to look for innovative and next generation solutions for solving data challenges.

    You Have:

    + 15+ years of IT data engineering and architecture experience, with 10+ years of experience leading data teams

    + Lead the charge in crafting Guardian's data architecture vision & developing an architecture roadmap to drive innovation and modernization continuing Guardian transformation journey of building a more contemporary insurance company

    + Excellent comprehension of data management principles and champion of sound architectural and modeling standards. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally ensuring stakeholders are fully apprised.

    + A forward-thinking individual capable of taking classic data assets and transforming them into modern, streamlined architecture.

    + Lead the way in business technology by establishing data architecture standards and guidelines for success - becoming an authority on designing efficient, secure architectures.

    + Require a deep understanding of business and technology, bridging gaps between key stakeholders on operational priorities and creating clarity around related requirements from data inception to consumption.

    + Expertise in driving data modeling quality across conceptual, logical, and physical levels. Constantly seeking technical solutions that can boost the effectiveness of delivering superior data products.

    + A deep understanding vendor SaaS integrations, RDBMSs, and NoSQL databases and experience with Databricks platform

    + Experience with cloud data services such as Redshift, Relational database services (RDS), Snowflake or Databricks.

    + Hands on experience designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines & architecture for large scale data warehouse, data lake and data lakehouse projects.

    + Strong knowledge of ETL concepts, preferably Informatica, Syncsort, and modern technologies like Fivetran.

    + Demonstrated expertise with data sourcing, profiling, data mapping and data analysis.

    + Proven experience in implementing real-time and Change Data Capture (CDC) data pipelines

    + Strong SQL, PL/SQL experience and skilled in queries and data structures.

    + Expert proficiency in data modeling tools -- preferably Erwin and strong logical and physical data modeling experience

    + SAFe experience and the ability to work on a cross-functional, self-organizing development team is a plus.

    + Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and experience with effectively communicating change across different levels in the organization.

    + Understanding of HIPAA, CCPA, NYDFS and other state and federal regulations that govern the access of data.

    + Background in Insurance or Financial Services domains is highly desirable.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving skills.

    Location & Travel:

    + Three days a week in Holmdel, NJ, New York, NY, Stamford, CT or Bethlehem, Pa offices.

    Reporting Relationships:

    As our Head of Data Architecture you will report to our Head of Enterprise Architecture.

    Salary Range:

    $152,290.00 - $250,195.00

     

    The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
