Job Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for successful administration and management of the delivery of finance system projects within Herc Rentals. This position will work collaboratively across all IT Architecture and Business domains as well as with external service providers to develop and/or improve the ERP, financial reporting systems and related processes using best practices and Herc Rentals technology standards.
What you will do...
Lead the planning, execution, and final delivery of financial systems projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are on time, within scope, and on budget
Oversee the customization, integration, and implementation of ERP and financial reporting systems
Assist in the development of testing requirements, develop test plans and coordinate testing efforts
Provide regular project status updates, reports, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders, using financial analysis skills to inform decision-making
Foster a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to leverage technology and automate processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function
Manage all phases of process improvement projects, utilizing methodologies like Agile, Scrum, Lean, or Six Sigma to drive change effectively
Lead efforts to analyze current accounting workflows to pinpoint inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and control gaps within existing financial processes and propose technology-based and procedural solutions to optimize performance
Design future-state processes, coordinate the implementation of new procedures or supporting technologies
Develop and execute change management and communication plans, including delivering training and creating documentation, to ensure smooth transitions and sustained adoption of new processes
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of new processes, monitoring performance post-implementation and iterating as needed
Ensure all process improvements adhere to internal controls, accounting standards, and regulations, working closely with internal and external auditors
Coordinate with cross-functional teams—Finance, Accounting, IT, Operations, Internal Audit, and external vendors—to gather requirements, ensure alignment and implement changes that meet business needs
Manage project communications – including the status, issues, risks and deliverables
Requirements
+ A bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or a related analytical field
+ Certifications such as PMP, Lean or Six Sigma are highly advantageous
+ Minimum of four years of experience in project management
+ Proven track record of successfully managing complex, end-to-end software or ERP implementation projects
+ Experience working with major ERP and financial reporting systems like Oracle and OneStream
+ Demonstrated experience in driving significant process improvements that resulted in measurable efficiency gains, cost reductions, or enhanced control environments
+ Experience with process mapping tools and strong analytical and quantitative skills
Skills
+ Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
+ Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies and strong Microsoft products including Powerpoint, Project, Visio and Excel
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
+ Strong financial acumen, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills
+ Exceptional ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes of inefficiencies, and translate findings into practical solutions
+ Understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes
+ Proficient at developing and delivering presentations with excellent meeting management skills
+ Requires strong leadership and proactive issue and risk management
+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify problems, make decisions, create solutions and take action
