Job Description

Minneapolis College is seeking applications for a potential adjunct and/or temporary part-time instructor in Residential Construction Topics for the Architectural Technologies Department within the School of Design and Arts. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to excellence in career and technical education, and eager to contribute to an environment that values integrity, collaboration, equity, and diversity.

Salary Range:

Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.

Instructor Responsibilities:

+ Provide classroom instructionfor Residential Construction topics as it relates to the learning outcomes of this course.

+ Plan, develop,anddeliver curriculumspecific toResidential Construction.

+ Evaluate andassessstudent progress toward learning goals.

+ Maintainconsistent communication with students andcolleagues.

+ Support the mission,visionand core values of the college.

+ Promote diversity and cultural competency.

+ Participateactively in the college community through committee work and inter-departmentalcollaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

+ Associate's degree in architectural drafting/technology or a degree in architecture.

Occupational Experience Requirement

+ Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in architectural drafting/technology or as a license/registered architect.

Recency Requirement

+ One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualification

+ Knowledge of technologyis neededto construct residentialarchitecturalprojects.

+ Expertisein various residential construction systems, including foundation systems, wood-framed construction, insulation methods, water-resistive barriers, exteriordoorsand windows.

+ Knowledge of residential building code application and interpretation.

+ Knowledge of structural and mechanical systems.

Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
