Description of Duties

This is a technical position in the Department of Environmental Services (DES), Sustainability and Environmental Quality Office, responsible for assisting with implementing the Monroe County Climate Action Plan, Monroe County Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Plan, ensuring compliance with the New York State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), and generally researching, supporting, and implementing other sustainability initiatives, including tracking data and reporting on program aspects and successes. Duties involve coordinating with other DES divisions and programs, as well as other departments and external partners in execution of the plan(s). The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Sustainability Coordinator or other higher-level employee. Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

PROPOSED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation with a Bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, Sustainability, or Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, plus two (2) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in environmental management, science, or engineering including assessing energy efficiency, interpreting regulatory requirements, and managing design and/or construction projects; OR,

(B) Graduation with an Associate’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as described in (A) above; OR,

(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
