    Description and Responsibilities

     

    Open Sky’s Community Membership Department provides opportunities for individuals served to establish a variety of valued roles within their communities. The Community Membership Team works closely with the Staff Development Department to offer a number of trainings that cover several approaches to working with people served, staff and communities. Opportunities are created through strong community partnership development as well as unique programs designed to facilitate relationships and membership within the community. The Community Membership Facilitator supports the development of valued community roles and the expansion of meaningful relationships for people served by seeking opportunities that increase exposure to social interactions at varying levels

     

    We are seeking a creative, motivated candidate to serve in the position of Community Membership Facilitator. Under the supervision of the Director of Community Membership, this position will play an active role in matching the individuals served by Open Sky programs in Worcester County with social and cultural groups within the community. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping individuals with disabilities participate in fun and social activities where they can integrate with those without disabilities and thrive in those environments while building long-term friendships.

    Other Key Responsibilities:

    + Identify community opportunities that match individual preferences; maintain team documents, such as community mapping, web resources, and reoccurring community events.

    + Participate in various agency and community committees to support inclusive activities through information sharing, planning, and recruiting participants/volunteers.

    + Work directly with individuals served on social skills acquisition and application related to community membership.

    + Recruit and coordinate volunteers; mentor interns/temps.

    Qualifications

    + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.

    + Valid drivers license, reliable transportation and acceptable driving record, required.

    + Minimum of two years’ experience with community networking and working with local community resources, required.

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently with attention to detail, required

    + Proficiency in MS Office/Excel, required. Social media and/or webpage management, highly preferred.
