    POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to conduct research on resilience of the built environment for the MIT Concrete Sustainability Hub (CSHub); contribute to a project focused on evaluating the resilience and sustainability of various building types under natural hazard events; conduct structural performance assessments, life cycle assessments, develop resilience metrics, and create decision-support tools for improving the resilience and sustainability of the built environment; and collaborate and interaction with faculty and postdoctoral associates, research sponsors, and supervision of undergraduate or graduate students.

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED: PhD in a discipline of engineering, preference in civil and environmental engineering or industrial ecology; Expertise in systems analysis, building design, and life cycle assessment (LCA) /life cycle cost assessment (LCCA); ability to work with large datasets; and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate research results in the form of juried research journal articles and oral presentations. PREFERRED: Recent PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Ecology (or related discipline) with a clear interest in resilience of the built environment; experience and competency in quantitative analysis; solid background in LCA/LCCA; experience in building design; proficient at statistical software, e.g., Python, R; ability to work in a team environment and interact with diverse stakeholders including non-governmental organizations, industry and government agencies; solid communication skills, written, verbal and listening skills; solid organizational, time management and problem-solving skills, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail; highly goal-driven and exhibit the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization; and ability to work within a collaborative setting with others to set clear priorities while managing multiple timelines and objectives.
