    UPMC is hiring a part-time Supported Employment Specialist for Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough. The role involves assisting consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment aligned with their vocational goals and recovery.

     

    Based in McKeesport, the position requires fieldwork throughout Allegheny County, with a work vehicle provided for travel. The role primarily involves daylight hours but requires flexibility. Ideal candidates should have strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Partnering with consumers in job development and sustaining employment.

    • Engaging and supporting consumers, families, and employers.

    • Completing and maintaining documentation.

    • Training and assisting other employment specialists.

    • Assessing vocational functioning and matching interests with jobs.

    • Educating and supporting employers, including negotiating job accommodations.

    • Building trusting relationships and integrating vocational services with mental health treatment.

    • Developing and updating vocational service plans with the treatment team.

    • Accompanying consumers to job-related activities and providing outreach.

    • Completing staff development training.

    • Adhering to UPMC's mission, vision, and policies.

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other human service field, including at least 12 credit hours in human services related education, and with 1 year of related experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health related experience.

    • Experience with people with severe mental illness, experience with vocational services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred.

    • Ability to work as an effective team player is essential.

    • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings/weekends/holidays.

    • Basic computer skills.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

    • Driver's License

    • Act 34
