    The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and an essential member of the Community Treatment Team. They set standards for quality care and are accountable for providing nursing services. This role is within the **first ACT department to achieve licensure in Pennsylvania** , and the Western Behavioral Health ACT Teams have been rated **as “Exemplary” through annual third-party fidelity reviews** .

     

    In this part-time position (20 hours per week), the nurse will manage patient care for a group of individuals and their families, using independent judgment and collaboration with healthcare providers. The role offers flexibility in scheduling, allowing for a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life while providing comprehensive, community-based care to individuals with severe mental illness.     Responsibilities:

    Quality Improvement

    + Participate in quality improvement efforts and identify opportunities.

    + Improve patient satisfaction using research and evidence-based practice.

    Relationships and Environment

    + Build positive relationships with staff and patients.

    + Work effectively in a complex environment with good clinical judgment and critical thinking.

    Patient Care

    + Formulate and implement patient care plans.

    + Assist physicians and coordinate care.

    + Document patient encounters comprehensively.

    Professional Development

    + Engage in professional development and shared governance.

    + Adapt to change and support the transition process.

    + The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.

    + They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

    + Minimum six months experience **preferred** .

    + BSN **preferred** .

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. CPR Certification UPMC approved national certification preferred CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

     

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

    + Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

    + Act 33 with renewal

    + Act 34 with renewal

    + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
