• Systems Engineer II (Full Time, 40, Day)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides infrastructure support for systems of moderate complexity, as assigned, at The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS).

    • Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues with infrastructure hardware and datacenter software.

    • Supports and assists the IT Department in the development of sound practices and solutions for infrastructure issues.

    • Serves as a Tier 1 escalation point for infrastructure related issues.

    • Collects data from performance and uptime monitoring tools.

    • Installs, configures, tests and maintains operating systems, application software and system management tools.

    • Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.

    II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All essential, designated by frequency.

    • Continuous: seeing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

    • Frequent: standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, hearing.

    • Occasional: stooping/bending, carrying usual weight of 12 pounds, reaching above shoulder level.

    • Operates computer equipment and copy machines.

    III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

    • Work schedule includes providing 24 hours/7 days a week support as required.

    IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) field or related field; four (4) years experience enterprise infrastructures may be substituted for educational requirement.

    • Depending on area of assignment, must successfully complete and maintain certification(s) in the application(s) assigned, and as may be specified per the training agreement.

    • Current certification in at least one of the following preferred:

    o Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)

    o Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Windows 2012

    o VMware Certified Associate

    o CompTIA A+/IT Fundamentals

    o Other MCSA certifications

    o Citrix Netscaler

    o MCSE: Server Infrastructure

    o Linux

    B. EXPERIENCE:

    • In addition to the educational requirement, two (2) years experience with server and datacenter infrastructure technologies including at least one of the following:

    o Windows Server Operating Systems Server 2008 and 2012

    o Active Directory

    o DHCP

    o VMWare ESXi

    o Citrix

    • Experience to demonstrate proven hardware/software troubleshooting experience and application support experience.
