RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for co-leading large collaborative teams (hales) made up of clinicians and key stakeholders across The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS).
• Responsible for coordinating data and information which will be presented to the hale for decision making purposes around which quality improvement teams will be initiated as a workgroup of the hale.
• Responsible for coaching workgroups once they are tasked by the hale with a quality improvement project.
• Responsible for tracking workgroup outcomes and providing assistance with barriers encountered by the workgroups.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All required, described by frequency.
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
• Continuous: standing, sitting, walking, repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Frequent: stooping/bending, reaching below shoulder level.
• Occasional: climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level.
• Operates computer, printer.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Occasional scheduled night and weekend work.
• May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects.
• Majority of time is spent on the computer or collaborating with key stakeholders in the health system.
• Work may be performed in an enclosed area lacking windows.
• Work may be performed at various locations under varying conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, health care or related field.
• Current Hawaii licensure as a clinical professional.
• Master’s degree; or, five (5) years experience in health care related work required may be substituted for educational requirement.
• Certification in National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
• Current and active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification issued by the Project Management Institute preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to the educational requirement, the following is required:
o Two (2) years clinical experience required; experience in a specific area of specialty (i.e., cardiac, geriatrics, oncology, etc.) may be required depending upon area of assignment.
o Two (2) years of experience with direct involvement in quality improvement activities
o Formal training or two (2) years of experience with data driven quality improvement methodology such as lean, six sigma, care delivery science.
• Experience to demonstrate ability to lead and manage project teams effectively.
• Knowledge of performance improvement, databases/information systems preferred.
• Experience with population health management preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with computer word-processing, spreadsheets, statistical software programs, and presentation applications may be required depending upon area of assignment.
• MS Visio experience desired.
