    Job Description:

    QUALIFICATIONS

    **Education Required** : Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology

     

    Experience Required: At least one year of exercise stress testing, or cardiac rehab

    Other Skills/Knowledge Required:

    + Basic Computer Skills

    + EPIC training

    + For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and fellow members of the hospital team

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:

    ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification preferred

    **LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:** ACLS

    **POPULATION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS** : Adults, Geriatrics

    JOB FUNCTIONS

    As part of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab team, this position:

    + Evaluates patient’s stress test to develop an individualized exercise plan.

    + Recommends exercise plan and receives approval from Cardiologist or Pulmonologist.

    + Reviews exercise plan and instructs patient on the proper use of exercise equipment.

    + Reviews rate of exertion scale with patient and explains how each level of the scale is defined.

    + Monitors the patient during their exercise routine, periodically checking blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation.

    + Recommends the proper exercise routine for the patient to continue at home upon discharge from program.

    + Maintains proper function and cleanliness of equipment.

    + Assists with emergency situation when they occur.
