We are seeking a talented and experienced Independent Loan Review Manager to establish and lead our independent loan review program in alignment with interagency guidance on credit risk review systems.
Position Overview:
The Independent Loan Review Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing an independent loan review system to ensure the ongoing health and stability of our loan portfolio. This role will ensure compliance with interagency guidance and best practices for credit risk management, and work closely with senior management and the board to provide regular reports and actionable insights on our loan portfolio.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AT CELTIC BANK
+ Design and implement an independent credit risk review system to assess and manage risks in the bank's loan portfolio.
+ Regularly review and evaluate loan quality, including underwriting standards and adherence to policies, loan classifications, collateral adequacy, and borrower performance.
+ Conduct periodic independent assessments of loan portfolios, ensuring accurate classification of loans (pass, special mention, substandard, doubtful) in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
+ Ensure compliance with the Interagency Guidance on Credit Risk Review Systems and other relevant regulations.
+ Work with senior management to develop strategies for managing problem loans, including identifying corrective actions and providing recommendations.
+ Prepare detailed reports on loan quality, risk concentrations, loan classifications, and other key metrics, for presentation to the Board of Directors and executive management.
+ Collaborate with the loan origination, credit, and compliance teams to identify and address any credit risk issues, and implement improvements to processes or systems as needed.
+ Maintain independence from the loan production process to ensure impartial assessments of credit risk and loan performance.
+ Stay up to date with changes in regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and trends related to credit risk management.
Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO DO IT
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s or professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CRCM is a plus).
+ Experience in credit risk management, loan review, or a similar role within a banking or financial services environment.
+ Strong understanding of business/commercial credit risk assessment, loan underwriting, loan portfolio management, and loan classification.
+ Familiarity with Interagency Guidance on Credit Risk Review Systems.
+ Proven experience with independent loan reviews, credit audits, or similar functions in a banking setting.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate loan quality, identify risks, and make recommendations for improvement.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to report complex findings to senior management and the board.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

+ This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. + Mobility: The employee in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

+ Work Model: The employee in this position will work either a fully Onsite, or Hybrid work model. All employees, regardless of location, may be required to travel to the Salt Lake City office for mandatory company meetings, events, or related occasions.
+ Utah-based employees: Hybrid work schedule available after initial training period in our Salt Lake City, Utah office – department and job requirements will determine eligibility.
