    The Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Technician is responsible for supporting workplace safety, environmental compliance, and health initiatives in accordance with OSHA General Industry regulations (29 CFR 1910), EPA requirements, and company policies. This role ensures that the facility operates safely, and remains in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. The Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Technician is an 85 to 90 percent field position and a key component of building and maintaining a strong, positive safety culture for the project.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in the implementation and enforcement of OSHA, EPA, and company safety and environmental policies.

    + Work daily with custodians and technicians to ensure the implantation of applicable project processes, procedures, permits, and hazard assessment for work being performed.

    + Conduct regular inspections and assessments to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.

    + Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.

    + Maintain safety records, permits, and compliance documentation.

    + Conduct and document safety and environmental training for employees.

    + Assist with hazardous materials and waste management, including proper handling, storage, and disposal.

    + Monitor applicable air, water, and waste compliance programs to ensure regulatory adherence.

    + Perform industrial hygiene monitoring (noise, air quality, ergonomics, etc.) as required.

    + Assist with the coordination of emergency response procedures, including fire safety, spill response, and first aid programs.

    + Participate in safety committees and employee engagement activities to promote a strong safety culture.

    + Assist with the implementation of safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), and Machine Guarding.

    + Perform periodic and incidental inspections and maintenance on project safety equipment to ensure it remains in serviceable condition, including fire extinguishers, safety eyewash/showers, fall protection equipment, ladders, vehicles, and emergency lighting.

    + Respond to safety-related work orders assigned to the safety department.

    + Stay current with regulatory updates and industry best practices to ensure continuous improvement in ESH programs.

    + Perform all other duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Five years of experience in an environmental, health, and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

    + Experience conducting safety audits, training sessions, and incident investigations.

    + OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification or willingness to obtain within the first 6 months.

    + Thorough working knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations (29 CFR 1910) and EPA environmental requirements.

    + Possess a valid, state-issued driver’s license at the time of hire.

    + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS management systems.

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train employees and work with all levels of the organization.

    + This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

    Desired Qualification:

    + Associate’s degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree completion.

    + Possess one or more professional certifications directly applicable to this position (CSP, SMS, ASP, GSP, OHST or similar) from a nationally recognized and accredited certification organization.

    + HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (preferred) or previous experience working with hazardous materials management and industrial hygiene monitoring is a plus.
