    A Carter Lumber Estimator specializing in Framing, Siding, and Trim will perform material take-offs for both residential and commercial buildings. A typical building estimate involves analyzing on-screen building plans and specifications. This role uses Planswift and Professional Estimating software to measure and calculate materials specific to framing, siding, and trim for Carter Lumber’s Outside Sales Representatives to price and source effectively. Effective communication with the field and internal departments are mandatory for the success of this position.

    Requirements

    + Skilled in reading both residential and light commercial blueprints and specifications

    + Experience in estimating materials and costs for framing, siding, and trim projects

    + Good working knowledge of wood frame construction materials and methods

    + Familiar with Pole Building construction

    + Excellent communicator while talking with other estimators, builders and salesmen

    + Must be a self-starter, organized, and comfortable working within strict deadlines

    + Competency in basic mathematics and geometry

    + Comfortable with computers and receptive to learning new software

    + Experience in PlanSwift, Professional Estimator, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

    Responsibilities

    + Estimating

    + Conducts material take-offs specific to framing, siding, and trim for residential and commercial designs in a timely and precise manner.

    + Reviews construction documents and understands material to bid.

    + Reviews and fixes potential inaccuracies in material lists.

    + Field Support

    + Partners with Outside Sales Representatives to address all aspects of framing, siding, and trim in building plans.

    + Follows up with the status of take-offs and assists outside sales representatives in the selling of projects.
