    The Safety Inspector supports all field construction and maintenance operations inspections and compliance audits for the AMH enterprise. Conducts routine safety audits and assessments to ensure compliance with environmental and workplace safety regulations in Construction and General Industry standards. Provides guidance and consultation to Development and Operations management and supervisory teams in identifying and mitigating workplace hazards specifically related to construction and maintenance activities. Leads the implementation of field safety protocols and ensures that all construction and maintenance projects adhere to these standards. Oversees Field Technician New Hire Safety Orientation training to ensure they are knowledgeable about safety regulations and best practices. Reports findings to Senior Director of Safety & Facilities and recommends corrective actions. Collaborates with department managers to integrate safety measures into project plans and schedules. Drives continuous improvement in safety performance by analyzing incident data and implementing preventive measures. Educates employees on best practices, fostering a safer environment within the organization. Works independently with general supervision, potentially influencing others through the explanation of facts, policies, and practices.

    Responsibilities:

    + Promotes and implements safety awareness through proactive work practices and development of company culture to enhance and improved regulatory compliance. Ensures organization compliance with EPA, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations.

    + Conducts routine inspections and audits, as required, to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

    + Assists in the development and implementation of safety and I2P2 policies, procedures, and guidelines that will ensure the environment health and safety programs are in coordination and conjunction with the goals and objectives of the business.

    + Identifies and initiates mitigation methods of hazardous conditions or unsafe acts within home building, construction, and technician-based environments. Participates in incident investigations and assist with the development of corrective action plans by providing education / best practices to prevent recurrence.

    + Inspects, documents and tracks equipment (e.g., fall protection equipment, ladders), tools, and working conditions inspections to ensure safety of workers engaged in construction and maintenance work activities. Recommends replacement equipment that do not meet safety requirements.

    Requirements:

    + High School Diploma / GED required.

    + Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering and/or related preferred.

    + Minimum 2+ years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health Operations in the General Industry and Construction disciplines.

    + Recognized Professional Safety and Health certification preferred: CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP, CSP

    + Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer for General Industry and/or Construction highly preferred. Must be able to obtain within 90 days of employment.

    + Valid driver’s license.

    + Intermediate knowledge and exposure of OSHA and EPA guidelines and regulations required.

    + Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

    + Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels.

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Strong customer, quality, and results orientation.

    + Ability to be an effective member of project teams.

    + Will frequently be required to travel approximately 50%-75%.
