Job Overview:

The Clinical Specialist in Cardiology is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients. They are responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services within specialization in their assigned area which includes Cardiology specialty and cardiology critical care unit.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ PharmD Degree from an accredited institution is required

+ Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program is required

+ Familiarity with Federal and State laws regulating professional and hospital practice of Pharmacy.

+ Must be computer literate with working knowledge of reporting tools in addition to proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

+ Effective oral and written communication skills are a must.

Preferred:

+ Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency Program in Cardiology or Pharmacotherapy is preferred.

+ Experience in cardiology specialty and critical care units are also preferred.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

+ Registration in New Jersey as a Pharmacist, New Jersey licensure required

Essential Functions:

+ Pharmaceutical care include but not limited to the preparation , dispensing, and monitoring of both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures.

+ Responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services within specialization in their assigned areas which include Cardiology specialty and cardiology critical care unit.

+ Provides direct patient care by rounding with Cardiology Critical Care Unit (CCU) team and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare providers including consult teams for heart failure and cardiology.

+ The Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Pharmacy and Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services in the coordination of all clinical pharmacy activities in addition to the quality improvement and quality assurance activities relating to cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, and other concomitant conditions including but not limited to stroke and diabetes.

+ Contribute to transitions of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.

+ Monitors and manages anticoagulation therapies.

+ The Specialist plans, organizes, analyzes, and compiles the facility s medication utilization programs as required and assists in the implementation of cost containment programs.

+ Furnish clinical information to physicians, pharmacy personnel, health care practitioners, and patients.

+ Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and if applicable pharmacy students, ensuring the success of the College of Pharmacy engagement and the PGY1 and PGY 2 Residency programs (if applicable)

Pay Range:

$58.39 to $ 67.08 Hourly Rate
