    The Office of Student Financial Support at Johns Hopkins University seeks to hire an **_Assistant Director for Scholarships_** to support the university’s mission of attracting the most talented, creative, and ambitious students to the Hopkins community, regardless of financial circumstances.

     

    The Assistant Director for Scholarships is a member of the Student Financial Support team comprised of the Director, Associate Directors, Senior Assistant Directors/Financial Aid Managers, and Assistant Directors, who work as a collaborative group responsible for awarding and delivery of institutional, federal, state, and private financial aid based on the policies and procedures to meet University-wide goals. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the internal and external scholarship programs at the Homewood Campus and processing a portion of the total number of need-based financial aid applications received by the Office of Student Financial Support.

     

    The Assistant Director position has direct authority to make financial aid commitments to the student population on behalf of the University.

     

    _This position offers a_ **_hybrid_** _work model. Candidates must be able to participate in meetings, receive and make phone calls, attend periodic in-person meetings, and participate in in-person training, conferences, and staff/student workshops. Occasional event and weekend work are required._

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    + Administer internal scholarship programs, including, but not limited to, the donor-funded scholarship program, processing Other Financial Assistance (OFA), the summer scholarship program, and the summer savings waiver grant process.

    + Manage external scholarship programs, including, but not limited to, private scholarships, the Maryland State Scholarship Program, the Gates Scholarship and the Jack Kent Cook Scholarship programs, AmeriCorps, and Veterans’ Benefits.

    + Maintain strong knowledge of federal and institutional methodology to assist with evaluating aid applications for prospective and returning undergraduate student populations to determine aid eligibility and for adjusting financial aid awards as needed to incorporate internal and external scholarships based on policy.

    + Liaise/collaborate with campus partners, including Admissions, Student Accounts, Center for Student Success, Student Outreach and Support, Life Design, Homewood Student Affairs, and ASEN Development Offices.

    + Create and maintain business process guides for functional users regarding all scholarship programs.

    + Develop and implement financial aid policies and procedures, particularly those related to internal and external scholarships.

    + Assist with reconciling reports and data gathering for audits related to scholarship programs for compliance purposes—federal Title IV, state, and donors.

    + Prepare and present financial aid sessions/workshops as needed regarding scholarship programs.

    + Maintain current knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state rules, and institutional policies about financial aid.

    + Other job-related duties as assigned

    Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Working knowledge of Title IV regulations.

    + Ability to manage multiple workflows with varying deadlines.

    + Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high expectations for performance and productivity.

    + Functional experience with PowerFAIDs.

    + OnBase or other document imaging and Workflow systems.

    + Salesforce or other CRM applications.

    + Knowledge of Institutional Methodology (IM).

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree.

    + One year of related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master's Degree preferred.

    + Relevant financial aid/Title IV experience.

    + Customer service and training experience.

    Starting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($62,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:30am- 5:00pm

     

    FLSA Status: Exempt

Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
