    Posting Description

    FISCAL OFFICER, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to serve as a key member of the finance team. Will report directly to the Manager of Financial Operations who handles sponsored research grants and non-standard complex contracts as well as overall financial activities for the Initiative; prepare research proposal submissions to industrial, federal, and non-profit sponsors, and oversee financial review and control activities for research and faculty discretionary cost objects; manage a portfolio of key industrial sponsors; and assist the Manager of Financial Operations in preparing financial reports and appropriate accompanying analysis for the MITEI senior management, perform financial analysis on assigned portfolios, including regular tracking of revenue and expenses, allocating salaries of staff to appropriate accounts, preparing budget projections and conducting related analysis, and making decisions on future spending with inputs from the project teams.

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience in financial management, accounting, budgeting, and/or fiscal administration; careful attention to detail, multi-tasking, and proactive work style with the capacity to collaborate and contribute as an individual and a member of a team; robust interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse community in a fast-paced environment; demonstrated organizational and analytical skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines; solid problem-solving and follow-through skills in order to see projects and issues through to completion; and robust computer skills including proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and enterprise accounting and data base tools. PREFERRED: Experience in an academic setting and with supervising staff; and experience with SAP, BrioQuery, Kuali Coeus and Cognos. Job #24890-8
