    National Salvage and Service is seeking to hire a Heavy Equipment Mechanic which is based out of our office in Bloomington, Indiana.

     

    National Salvage & Service is a sustainable company, we recycle nearly all the material we salvage. This practice not only keeps these materials out of landfills, improving the environment; it also saves our customers significant amounts of money, reducing the cost of a job and adding to profit.

     

    National is a leading wholesale provider of used railroad ties and new railroad ties and other treated hardwood railroad track products, as well as recycled utility poles.

     

    Job Functions

     

    + Work on heavy equipment, trucks, and service vehicles

    + Maintain knowledge and adherence to all safety policies

    + Conduct vehicle/equipment inspections and diagnostic tests; identify and resolve worn, broken, or damaged parts

    + Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system problems and consider possible solutions.

    + Maintain vehicles/equipment using preventive maintenance procedures that meets or exceeds industry standards

    + Maintain shop equipment per operating instructions; troubleshooting and repairing or coordinate repairs; maintaining supplies

    + Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment

    + Greases, oils, and lubricates components during preventive maintenance service

    + Works under limited supervision

    + Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

    + Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company Policy, and performs all work per established safety procedures

    Qualifications:

    + Deep working knowledge of Hydraulics and Diesel vehicles

    + Need experience using mig and stick welding processes

    + Must have skills in cutting with torches and plasma cutters

    + Minimum of 2 years of Diesel Mechanic Experience
