• Construction Inspector - Transportation

    Johnson Engineering (Fort Myers, FL)


    Job Summary: Observation and inspection of various construction projects including roadways, bridges, pedestrian facilities, utilities, and associated improvements. Daily travel required within Southwest Florida area. Company vehicle provided.

    Essential Duties:

    + Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.

    + Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.

    + Observe work in progress to determine whether procedures followed, and materials used are in reasonable conformance with applicable specifications.

    + Interprets blueprints and specifications for Contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.

    + Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.

    + Track progress and quantity of construction work items.

    + Perform and document testing of certain construction work items as defined in the contract documents.

    Qualifications:

    + Construction experience required in roadway, bridge, utility and/or site civil construction required. CEI experience with roadway construction preferred. Pay will be commensurate with experience level.

    + Existing construction certifications (CTQP, MOT, ACI, Troxler, etc.) preferred but not required. Applicant must be willing and able to attain necessary certifications.

    + Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

    + Must have an excellent driving record, be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Florida driver's license.
