Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food. Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing Gaylord production processes (Aseptic & Breaking departments) by providing direction and overseeing supervisory staff, ensuring that company policies, procedures and government laws are followed and to coordinate activities between departments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position always has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Responsible for all aspects of product manufacturing. Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams. Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are properly trained in order to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, human relations and professional development. Actively participate in the management team to promote safety, facility growth and team development. Coordinate activities between Research and Development and plant operations both at the local level and across Michael Foods Inc. Prepare department budgets and monitor expenditures. Develop capital proposals for expansion or cost improvement projects. Responsible for continuous improvement of product quality. Work with customer service department in regards to correspondence and complaint investigation. Direct interaction with regulatory inspectors. Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational processes associated with the manufacturing facility. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, food science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in production and supervision. Supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Frozen foods processing and packaging Fluid Aseptic principles, processing and packaging Food safety and sanitation principles (GMP, SQF) State and Federal rules and regulations (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.) Knowledge of plant operations and production scheduling High performance work teams Managing employees and production operations. Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory control computer programs Advancement planning of direct reports. Problems solving Preparing and managing department budgets. Leadership and team skills (interpersonal, leading teams, communication) Good written and verbal communication skills, able to make detailed presentations and present them to upper levels of management. #FirstInPeople The pay range for this position is $96,232 - $150,122 per year.
