Posting Description
SENIOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANT, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), supports the varied post-award financial services of a large, complex, and administratively-centralized interdepartmental laboratory serving more than 90 principal investigators with annual activities exceeding $70M. Reporting to the Financial Coordinator and the Senior Manager for Fiscal Administration, and working closely with a team of 9 research administration professionals (FOs) within RLE, will handle invoice processing, account transaction reconciliation, and other financial review and control activities; work with staff and students as a resource to ensure the control of p-card transactions; administer centralized financial record and archival systems; understand and resolve accounting and charge documentation issues; work closely with financial portfolio management staff in the effective administration of the Laboratory’s financial activities; provide financial support for a School/Area or DLC, including reviewing, processing, and/or tracking financial transactions with a focus on Financial Review & Control; conduct training, end-user support, and coaching on all procurement related systems to the entire RLE community and achieves & sustains super-user status.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of five years of experience in accounting or finance; working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, E-Mail/Calendaring, and reporting software tools; working knowledge of databases, and expertise with enterprise financial and procurement systems; robust verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer experience skills; be flexible, organized and detailed when performing work; ability to work independently and as part of a team; working knowledge of job responsibilities, procedures and practices; demonstrated strength in building relationships, both internally and externally; ability to prioritize and complete tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities; and ability to learn changing technologies and advise end users. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree; and experience with MIT accounting processes and systems (SAP, B2P, FRC Tool, Concur Travel, Cognos, Brio-query). Job #24894-6
