As a Construction Manager, you’ll join our collaborative Operations, Maintenance, and Facility Services (OMFS) team to support our projects at the Wilmington Wastewater Treatment Plant. You’ll oversee the development and completion of several construction projects and supervise the construction activities undertaken by contractors to ensure compliance with schedule, technical specifications, and quality and costs as stated in the contract documents.
Also, as part of the project team, you’ll:
* Guide inspection staff and assist with day-to-day construction management activities, including phased and final product acceptance, coordination meetings, and schedule and cost control.
* Observe daily construction activities and ensure thorough inspections of construction materials and workmanship, while also monitoring adjacent operations for safety measures.
* Maintain orderly files for all project-related documents. Leverage construction management software and tools to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
* Organize and document inspections, reviews, and regular meetings with contractors, approval agencies, and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with contractors to develop and maintain a comprehensive CPM construction schedule and ensure the timely processing of submittals.
* Review contractors’ applications for payment and advise on prevailing wage requirements.
* Provide monthly project and status reports, including schedule and cost information, progress photos, and project issues.
* Evaluate and advise on construction issues, changes, and recommendations. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
* Participate in punch list preparation and final start-up procedures and coordinate cleaning and turnover by contractors.

* Bachelor’s degree and five+ years of construction management experience; Or High School Diploma or equivalent and eight+ years of construction management experience in lieu of degree
* Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications
* Knowledgeable in Earned Value Management
* Knowledgeable in OSHA safety regulations
* Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications
* Physical ability to walk construction sites and work outdoors under varying weather conditions
* Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
* Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or technology related field
* Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
* Experience with municipal water and wastewater construction or operation
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
