Lactation Consultant II – Part Time Days

Work location: Texas Health Rockwall - 3150 Horizon Rd, Rockwall, TX 75032

Work hours: Part Time, 24 hours weekly, day schedule, including weekends

Here’s What You Need

+ Associate’s degree in Nursing required or

+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred

+ 1 year experience as a registered nurse, completion of an RN residency program, or THR residency program required

+ 1 year of Lactation or Mother/Baby experience strongly preferred; Nursery experience a plus

+ Texas RN - Registered Nurse required upon hire and

+ BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required upon hire and maintained quarterly

+ NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire and

+ IBCLC - Lactation Consultant required within 2 years of hire

+ A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

+ Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.

+ Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patients plan of care.

+ Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.

+ Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

+ Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems.

+ Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center.
