    Job Description:

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Paramedic –Emergency Department Care Technician works under the direction of a RN to care for patients within the Emergency Department. This individual will room patients, taking vital signs, initiating intravenous lines, drawing blood, performing 12-lead EKGs, applying splints, assisting with procedures and patient monitoring. The Paramedic – Emergency Department works in a team environment to provide necessary care to our patients and their families and may assist in other clinical departments as assigned under the direction of the RN.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION

    _For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation._

     

    **Minimum Required:** Graduate of a paramedic program.

    **Preferred/Optional:** Associates degree in paramedicine.

    EXPERIENCE

    **Minimum Required:** Proficient with reading, writing and speaking English.

    **Preferred/Optional:** Experience as a paramedic. Proficient with reading, writing and speaking in alternate languages.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

    _The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position._

    Minimum Required:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within six months of hire.

    + Current Applicable State Paramedic license.

    + Current driver’s license with acceptable record may be required (varies by department/location).
