Work Schedule Summary
This role requires a commitment of at least one year to the Sustainability Office. Sustainability Ambassadors will be scheduled for 8 to 19 hours weekly based on class schedules and assigned projects. Most work is expected to be completed on campus in BUC50 between 7am and 5 pm weekdays, with occasional requirements for events outside of those times and on weekends.

Job Summary
The Sustainability Office seeks Sustainability Ambassadors to help promote sustainability at the University of Utah. The Sustainability Office empowers students, employees, and the broader community through education, engagement, and collaborative action to build a sustainable future. We envision the University of Utah as a beacon of sustainability, inspiring positive change locally and globally. Sustainability Ambassadors will further this mission and make programs that are engaging and relevant for the whole campus.
Sustainability Ambassadors will work independently and collaboratively with our team of faculty, staff, and student employees. Work will include planning and staffing events, creating content for marketing, coordinating sustainability programs, outdoor garden work, and supporting administrative functions of the office. Sustainability Ambassadors will learn professional skills and grow their understanding of sustainability at the University of Utah.
This position is open to all majors. This position is work-study eligible but work-study participation is not required.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
1. Amplifying and supporting engagement efforts for the campus community through tabling and other outreach.
2. Creating content for marketing such as taking photos, writing articles, and designing social media posts.
3. Collaborating to put on events and programs such as New Student Orientations, Farmers Market, Pop-Up Thrift Shops, Earth Month, Edible Campus Gardens, SpaceHeater Exchange, Clear the Air Challenge and Green Office Certification. Learn more on our website!
4. Completing administrative or clerical duties at the front desk including answering the phone and email, greeting visitors, directing inquiries, scheduling appointments, copying, data entry, internet searches, errands, and processing mail.
5. Maintaining reception area, general workroom, conference room area, and office equipment; arranging for service calls as needed; and, ordering and distributing office supplies.
6. Participating in meetings and professional development opportunities.
7. Other tasks as assigned.
