    The Opportunity with McKinstry

     

    We are currently seeking an **Associate Mechanical** **Engineer** to join our team as a member of our Engineering and Design division. The Associate Engineer position is a mix of brains and brawn. They play the role of day-to-day project manager, ensuring project budget and quality targets are met. As a team leader, their technical expertise allows them to be a technical contributor as well as a mentor for junior staff. This position builds upon an engineer’s technical expertise and adds project management responsibilities.

     

    This position will be based in Seattle and focused on supporting our Special Projects Group. In this role, projects will be primarily HVAC replacements in existing buildings. You will partner with our SPG account executives to scope and deliver projects such as steam heating conversions, rooftop unit replacement, boiler and chiller replacement, and tenant improvements ranging from commercial office to higher education to life sciences and healthcare. You will get to touch every vertical market McKinstry serves, developing mechanical and plumbing permit documents for submission to the City of Seattle or other appropriate jurisdiction. Projects tend to be tactical and rapid, with an emphasis on functionality and constructability incorporating sustainability values.

Responsibilities include:

     

    + Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across various offerings, verticals, and clients.

    + Act as the project manager and lead/senior engineer on a wide array of projects

    + Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and deliver best-in-class designs.

    + Assist with strategic initiatives within the Engineering & Design group as assigned.

    + Participate in all phases of project planning and execution to ensure seamless delivery.

    + Prepare comprehensive proposals that align scopes of work with client needs and budgets.

    + Lead sales efforts with internal and external clients for engineering work, including developing engineering fees & writing proposals

    + Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with customers to support project and business success.

    + Manage staffing for slate of projects and coordinate with other associates for appropriate resources

    What we would like to see from you:

    + Ten (10) years experience

    + Professional Engineering License

    + Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required or equivalent work experience required. Onsite construction experience considered and welcome.

    + Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D Auto CAD and/ or Revit preferred. Knowledge of other CAD/BIM tools welcome.

    + Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python, InDesign, IES-VE, and/or other software tools welcome.

    _The pay range for this position is $111,420 -$177,650 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location._
