Camp Counselor (Residential) - C2P Pipeline - College of Nursing

Essential functions (job duties):

Implement experience-based lesson plans and workshops addressing social issues relevant to the lives of C2Pipeline students.

Participate in day and night activities; including meals, field trips and community service projects.

Serve as a role-model to students by displaying responsible behavior and personal integrity.

Attend and actively engage in staff training and professional development sessions.

Communicate program rules to students, ensuring safety and responsible student behavior.

Maintain a professional relationship with all student participants and staff, while upholding clear staff-student boundaries at all times.

Build and maintain a positive relationship with all C2Pipeline and partnering organization stakeholders, e.g., visiting donors, site staff, parents, etc.

Complete tasks assigned by the Camp Coordinator/Asst. Camp Coordinator on a timely basis.

Facilitate appropriate implementation of program curriculum and resources.

Perform other duties as as assigned.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider completion of sophomore year of college with relevant experience as a camp counselor and/or working with high school age youth.

Experience: Entry level (no prior job-related work experience)

Experience teaching and/or facilitating programs for high school age youth preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated effectiveness working with students from different backgrounds and cultures. Ability to form positive and professional relationships with diverse youth and staff. Demonstrates ethical and moral character. Willingness to be an active problem solver as unexpected challenges arise. Maintain open channels of communication with Camp Coordinator, Asst. Camp Coordinator, other Camp Counselors and Mentors. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Ability to make sound and timely decisions in the interest of C2Pipeline program mission and goals. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Collaboratively creates an environment which promotes academic, career and social development. Assists in generating a positive and nurturing atmosphere for students, while encouraging them to push their boundaries.
