    License and Certification Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology. National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification preferred.Education Qualifications: Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours/90 quarter hours of school psychology course work from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved program.Experience Qualifications: Completion of successful year's internship in conjunction with public schools following conferred degree required. Three years experience as a school psychologist preferred.Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of psycho-educational assessments; ability to consult with administrators, teachers and parents, knowledge of principles of learning and behavior, special education laws and regulations, provision of in-service training for school faculties, and crisis intervention; ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to communicate courteously with other district employees, parents, and the public; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to effectively perform multiple tasks; and effective human relations skills.Primary Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for students referred either through local school Student Support Teams (SST's) or special education and consult regularly with teachers, counselors, parents, and administrators regarding the development of interventions for students demonstrating learning and/or behavioral problems.1. Select and administer appropriate, non-discriminatory tests to individual students from a highly diverse student population.2. Review test data from standardized testing and psycho-educational assessments in order to provide instructional recommendations.3. Participate as instrumental members of SST's to support general education students in the intervention process.4. Participate on eligibility and re-evaluation teams in each school in order to help the team make determinations regarding the need for special education services for students.5. Assist school personnel in providing assistance during crises and ensure availability to counsel students referred to them by counselors, teachers, and administrators.6. Conduct and attend in-service training and presentations to teachers, parents, and school faculties.7. Develop written documents of various comprehensive assessments for supplemental files.8. Contribute to the continuous improvement efforts for all departmental processes.9. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
