    The Veterinary Science department is seeking to hire an online academic advisor to support the academic and professional development of students in the online AAS program.

     

    Under the supervision of the Dean and Program Director, the Academic Advisor uses independent analysis and judgement to develop, coordinate, and supervise complex and varied administrative tasks in order to provide exemplary academic advising for the online Veterinary Technician AAS program. The position focuses on academic advisement and developing schedules for online Veterinary Technology students.

    Duties will include:

    + Learn software (Banner, BroncoWeb, etc) to create academic schedules for online students.

    + Maintain and revise Veterinary Science internship policies and procedures as related to academic advising

    + Serve as primary academic advisor for online AAS students as assigned by Program Director or Dean.

    + Assisting with academic advising materials, including website updates and other online environments

    + Assisting with reports pertaining to academic advising for AVMA accreditation, program reviews and grant applications

    + Serve on department or campus committees as directed by Program Director and Dean

    + Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Dean

    Job Requirements:

    + Three or more years of relevant experience

    + Demonstrated interest and understanding of online learning

    + Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

    + Must have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity

    + Strong time management and organizational skills and be able to operate in an online environment

    + Must exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills with faculty, staff, students, and community partners

    + Proficiency with Windows OS including word processing, knowledge of database programs

    + Must be a self-starter and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    + Demonstrated understanding of program marketing, including ability to use social media, complete basic website updates, etc

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in related field

    + Five or more years of relevant experience, assessment of student outcomes, and/or academic advisement

    Additional Information:

    + Start date: As soon as possible

    + Work schedule: 12-month obligation, required to work some nights and weekends

    + Salary: $49,000/annually

    + Reports to: Dean and Program Director

    + Budget Title: Staff Assistant, SL2
