The Division of Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine is recruiting for an experienced physician leader to serve as Medical Director of Lung Transplant for the University of Maryland School of Maryland. The lung transplant program is centered at the University of Maryland Medical Center and is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of professionals. We are focused on providing exceptional care to patients with critical lung illnesses and developing cutting edge treatment.Candidates can learn more about the division from our websitewww.umms.org/ummc/health-services/pulmonary-critical-care-medicine Key Responsibilities: * Oversee and direct all clinical, operational, and academic activities related to lung transplantation. * Develop and implement strategies for growing the lung transplant program and improving outcomes. * Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies including UNOS, CMS, and Joint Commission. * Collaborate with hospital leadership to set program goals, secure necessary resources, and ensure financial sustainability. * Ensure integration of the lung transplant program with other departments (e.g., cardiology, critical care, surgery). * Develop partnerships with referring physicians and other medical institutions to enhance the lung transplant referral network. * Work closely with the hospital’s marketing and outreach teams to promote the lung transplant program regionally and nationally. * Participate in community outreach and education regarding organ donation and transplant opportunities. Expected faculty rank is Associate Professor or higher, however, rank, tenure status and salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. We offer competitive salary and benefits, as well as an environment supportive of professional development. The expected salary range for Assistant Professors is $300,000 (min) and $618,000 (max). The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the departmental faculty compensation programor pay from participation in departmental variable compensation programs.Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s good faith belief at the time of posting. The*Medical**Director of Lung Transplant*will lead and oversee all aspects of the lung transplant program, including patient care, research initiatives, and program development. This leadership role requires a physician who isboard-certified in pulmonary diseases, has completed a transplant fellowship or equivalent, and has extensive experience in lung transplantation. The director will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, intensivists, pulmonologists, pharmacists, transplant coordinators, and researchers to ensure the highest standards of patient care, medical education, and clinical research. Eligibility to obtain an independent license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland is required. Experience in transplant-related clinical and/or translational research is strongly encouraged.
