    Under the direction of the KCH Director of Behavioral Health and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team, the Same Day Clinic Therapist will play a vital role in helping patrons access urgent mental health care. This provider will have responsibilities navigating mental health crisis and/or completing initial evaluations for new patients. Responsibilities may include;

     

    + Perform face-to-face clinical evaluations and can provide preliminary mental health diagnoses.

    + Assist in coordination of care and facilitation of referrals for clinically indicated services such as peer support, case management or psychiatric rehabilitation.

    + Evaluate for presence of co-occurring and substance abuse disorders.

    + Provide crisis intervention and resource coordination assistance to individuals.

    + As deemed appropriate, engage in follow-up activities to ensure quality of care and/or provide short-term therapy to assist in crisis stabilization.

    + Communicate in a manner that demonstrates respect for people and others and assures their right to privacy and confidentiality.

    + Perform all clinical documentation within 24 hours of performing the activity in keeping with MDCH guidelines.

    + This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support 1) culturally competent, recovery based practices, 2) person centered planning as a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines his or her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid consumers in their recovery process.

    + Ensure the safety of persons served and personal safety through compliance with the agency's safety and training plans.

    Experience Needed:

    + Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.

    + Minimum of one-year experience in clinical settings working with target population and extensive knowledge of the DSM IV diagnostic criteria, co-occurring disorders, substance use disorders, evidence-based and promising practice interventions, and familiarity with psychotropic medications, experience with involuntary hospitalization procedures and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

    + Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail.

    + Licensed Masters Social Work (LMSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), or License Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

    + LMSWs or LPCs must receive clinical supervision by an approved by the KCMHSAS Credentialing Committee.
