This position is responsible for sales and use tax planning, audit defense and determining adequate reserves for tax positions. This role oversees the outsourcing of sales tax and property tax compliance and is responsible for providing sales tax guidance to all areas of the business.
This position supervises and manages a Tax Senior and a Temporary Labor force comprised of 2 persons assisting with all matters pertaining to Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax and Commercial Rent Tax, as well as FAS 5 related matters.
Overall Job Description:
Supervising and managing all matters pertaining to Sales & Use Tax including overseeing and managing all aspects of audits, claims for refunds, etc. Negotiate optimal settlements on audits, identify sales tax planning opportunities, preserve sales tax planning, and supervise and develop staff in all sales tax related matters. Advise the business on all tax technical matters pertaining to Sales & Use Tax.
Specific Responsibilities** **:
+ Successfully manage and negotiate favorable Sales & Use Tax audit settlements and claims for refund with government authorities. Assist with the preparation of tax appeals and protests.
+ Identify Sales Tax Planning Opportunities, quantifying the savings and assessing any associated risks.
+ Oversee the implementation of state tax savings opportunities for the Company.
+ Oversee and manage the Sales Tax Reverse Audit Claims projects completed by PWC determining those that are viable and worth pursuing.
+ Research, conclude upon, and advise the business on all tax technical matters pertaining to Sales & Use Tax.
+ Research tax law changes and document changes in memorandums.
+ Identify, measure and ensure adequate reserves for all tax positions taken in accordance with FAS 5 standards.
+ Develop staff to assist with negotiating areas of limited exposure to the Company. Train staff to identify areas of risk and measure them accordingly.
+ Responsible for delegating, managing, overseeing, and achieving optimal results in all areas of responsibility.
Qualifications -
+ Bachelors Degree in Accounting
+ Certified Public Accountant CPA
+ 10 years of relevant work experience
+ Working knowledge of SAP, Vertex, Excel and Microsoft Word
Pay Range:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is **$120,550.00** to **$208,200.00** . Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
