    The Curriculum Instructor for the HRSA Pathways to Careers in Primary Care Program is responsible for delivering educational content, coordinating instructional activities, and supporting program goals designed to encourage medical students to pursue primary care careers, especially in rural and medically underserved areas of New Jersey. Reporting to the Project Director and the Assistant Dean for Pre Clerkship Curriculum, the Curriculum Instructor will develop and facilitate didactic sessions, seminars, and other learning modules within the HRSA-funded program. This is a non-tenure position.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Develops, delivers, and evaluates instructional materials, including lectures, seminars, and case-based learning activities, aligned with the Pathways to Careers in Primary Care Program’s goals of increasing the number of primary care physicians (family medicine, internal medicine, and/or pediatrics) practicing in rural and medically underserved communities of New Jersey. These topics include:

    + Integrated primary care and behavioral health care

    + Social determinants of health

    + Personalized medicine

    + National CLAS Standards for cultural competency

    + Principles of service-learning

    + Foundations of health equity

    + Community Diversity Model:

    + Principles of Osteopathic Medicine

    + Collaborates with the Project Director and other team members to create and execute program content that supports students’ understanding of primary care principles and practices.

    + Participates in the Pathways Scholarships selection committee

    + Works closely with the Project Evaluator to gather and input necessary data for program evaluation and GPRA compliance.

    + Participates in required training and becomes proficient in federal platforms, including eRACommons, to ensure compliance with federal reporting and program management requirements.

    + Attends and contributes to team and grant-related meetings to foster program success and align efforts with grant objectives.

    + Assists in the development and review of program reports, data analyses, and recommendations based on findings and collaborates on grant-related documents.

    + Adheres to Rowan-Virtua SOM’s compliance standards, including Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.

    + Travels to multiple campuses and off-site locations, as required, to meet grant obligations and provide instructional sessions.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this role effectively, the individual must meet each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    + Master’s or Doctoral degree, preferably in public health or medical degree (DO, MD, or equivalent) .

    + Minimum of 3 years of instructional experience in a medical school or other health professions school.

    + Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, to prepare and deliver instructional content.

    + Effective oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

    + Valid driver’s license is required.

     

    The role may require working extended hours as needed to meet deadlines. Attendance at meetings in various buildings and off-campus locations is essential.
