Description
We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our Cornea-External Diseases Division. This role provides essential support to our clinics' physicians, assisting with clinical and some administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Conduct patient intake, including medical history, visual acuity tests, and dilation.
+ Perform refractions, topography, lensometry, and keratometry.
+ Manage and order supplies for eight exam rooms and a mino surgery room.
+ Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments.
+ Provide administrative support, including scheduling, answering patient calls, and maintaining medical records, obtain care pre-authorizations and process patient billing.
Salary Range: $33.02-43.56 HourlyQualifications
Required:
+ Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology anatomy, physiology as well as disease of the eye and systemic disease that affect the eye.
+ Knowledge of principles of the ophthalmic therapy, first aid and treatment of ocular and medical emergencies.
+ Knowledge of ophthalmic medications and the proper instillation of these into the eye.
+ Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and instrument sterilization techniques.
+ Two years' experience working in a medical office including answering telephones, interacting with patients and familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans.
+ One year of experience scheduling patient appointments in computerized appointment scheduling system.
+ Ability to use ophthalmic equipment such as tonopen, slit lamp, va monitor, auto-refraction, chair and applanation tonometer.
+ Ability to organize and prioritize duties & task.
+ Ability to work under pressure over a busy workload. Flexibility ability to adapt to changing needs of department.
+ Have interpersonal skills to maintain comfortable and cooperative working relationships with physicians, patients and co-workers.
+ Ability to work as a team member in a busy private practice.
+ Excellent punctuality and dependability.
+ Ability to interact calmly and effectively with patients with difficult personalities.
Preferred:
+ Experience registering patients in Epic/CareConnect system.
+ Experience working in a teaching environment.
