    Occupational Summary:

    This position is a visiting faculty position within the Division of Science and Mathematics. Primary teaching responsibilities are teaching mathematics courses that support the general education curriculum and pre-requisite course requirements for some majors. Courses include Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, and Probability & Statistics 1. The teaching load is 24 full-time undergraduate credit hour equivalents per year (based on the load hour conversion model in the Faculty Handbook) or 18 graduate credit hour equivalents.

    This position is responsible to cultivate and maintain the institution’s Catholic identity and its mission to empower graduates to transform society. As a member of the Newman University community, the faculty member will join with the institution’s sponsors, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC Sisters), to witness God’s love in Mission to empower others, foster oneness, celebrate life, form right relationships, and walk as compassionate companions. The faculty member is responsible to uphold this mission in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae, fostering an environment where Catholicism is present while encouraging an impartial search for truth across multiple disciplines engaged in interdisciplinary dialogue.

    General Responsibilities:

    + Teach students in assigned classes in accordance with course descriptions and/or learning outcomes, the course syllabus, and institutional policies and procedures.

    +  Provide students with a syllabus that includes required institutional policies, course objectives, materials, and methods of evaluation.

    + Provide a workload schedule showing teaching and office hours (minimum of 5 office hours per week).

    + Maintain accurate and complete course records and submit final grades by the established deadlines.

    + Communicate with and provide feedback to students in a timely fashion.

    + Use appropriate technologies to enhance classroom or online instruction and to achieve established course objectives or learning outcomes.

    + Regularly evaluate teaching methods and use data to continually improve instructional strategies.

    + Remain current with technological and pedagogical advances that promote continuous improvement of student learning.

    + Complete all university-required training, including FERPA and Title IX.

    + Contribute to the overall success of the School of Arts and Sciences by completing other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

    Required Qualifications:

    + A Master's degree in mathematics.

    + Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
