Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Director of Accounting with a prestigious client in MEMPHIS, Tennessee. This role is pivotal in the financial reporting functions for our portfolio of communities. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership skills, overseeing the Property Accounting and Accounts Payable Teams. You will directly report to the Chief Financial Officer, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and supporting the goals of the Operations and Growth Divisions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Property Accounting and Accounts Payable Teams to ensure smooth operations

• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

• Collaborate with the Operations and Growth Divisions to craft processes and policies that support team goals

• Record complex financial transactions including property acquisition, stabilization, and disposition

• Manage Treasury functions, including account maintenance/review and service options

• Serve as a liaison with external auditors and banks

• Support the financial development of Regional Property Managers and Site Staff

• Use Accounting Software Systems and CRM to maintain accurate records

• Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions

• Utilize Yardi Property Management System and Microsoft Excel for financial reporting

• Conduct auditing and budget processes

• Perform month-end close activities in Property Management Accounting

• Engage with all departments, including occasional contact with investors and owners.

Requirements • Applicant must hold a minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role

• Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems is required

• Experience with CRM systems is essential

• Demonstrable knowledge of Accounting Functions is necessary

• Must have experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Auditing experience is a must

• Familiarity with Budget Processes is required

• Proficiency in Yardi and Yardi Property Management software is necessary

• Skills in Excel Formulas and Microsoft Excel are essential

• Experience in Property Management is required

• Applicant must have knowledge of Property Management Accounting

• Prior work in a Property Management Company is a plus

• Experience in Real Estate Property Management is advantageous

• Must have experience in handling Month End Close tasks
