    Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Structural (Bridge) Engineering Professional Associate for the Houston, TX office.

    Responsibilities:

    The bridge engineer will be a task technical lead engineer on bridge design projects and perform complex structural analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation (highway and rail) projects. Assist with planning, analysis, design, plan preparation, specification development, quantity and cost estimating, and report writing. Perform Finite Element Analysis for the superstructure and substructure of various bridges using different modeling techniques. Conduct design of RC, steel, and prestressed structural elements. Understand and practice of DOTs' and AASHTO LRFD bridge design Specifications for transportation structures.

     

    Telecommuting is allowed / Hybrid schedule.

    REQUIREMENTS: This position requires Master degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis and 6 years of work experience as a Bridge Engineer or a related occupation. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: PhD degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis and 3 years of work experience as a Bridge Engineer or a related occupation.

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of: Conducting complex structural analysis and design for all structural elements using simple and advanced techniques. Finite Element method and modeling techniques. Using conventional and innovative materials for new construction and structural repairs with a strong understanding of behavior and design methodologies. National and international structural design codes and specifications with hands-on experience of DOT’s requirements and guidelines. Performing bridge inspections for evaluation and to identify deficiencies. Management skills to lead design tasks and the ability to guide and train young Engineers.

     

    Must have: Texas Professional Engineer’s license.

     

    Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.
