Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Manager,
Intern 1: 5S System Implementation
Scope: Machine Shop (Cutting, Bending, Machining).
Machine Shop needs to be the 5S System stellar example for the plant.
+ Attend 5S Training and get acquainted with Machine Shop area and personnel.
+ Within the Machine Shop, work with outer perimeters to Sort, Set in Order and Shine.
+ Evaluate safety equipment stations, locations and signs for improvement.
+ Within the Machine Shop, at Bress Break area, Sort, Set in Order and Shine.
+ Develop Standardization Examples (ensure effective Visual Management - post “After” effect pictures, maintenance instructions, Duty Schedule).
+ Develop Sustain documentation (5S Audit Schedules and Actions) and Communications Boards.
+ Work at Cutting areas to apply first 4 Steps.
+ Work at Milling areas to apply all 5 Steps.
Intern 2: Preventive Maintenance System Implementation
Scope: 500+ machinery and equipment throughout the plant.
Includes Mills, Press Breaks, Cranes, Forklifts, Overhead doors and etc.
+ Attend QCBD Training and get acquainted with the existing Preventive Maintenance System.
+ Verify physical machinery and equipment inventory.
+ Enter existing machinery and equipment name and identification number in system.
+ Enter existing Preventive Maintenance Tasks and their frequency.
+ For NEW machinery and equipment add identification number.
+ For NEW machinery and equipment enter name and identification number in system.
+ For NEW machinery and equipment research Preventive Maintenance Tasks and Frequency.
+ Program system to automatically distribute PM Activities per schedule.
+ Clean/Paint machinery and equipment that require attention.
Essential Functions of the Job:
+ Review existing Safety Procedures (50 documents) and customize based on management feedback
+ Develop Environmental Procedures (10 documents) and obtain review for approval
+ Develop associated forms such as checklists to support Safety and Environmental Procedures
+ Develop 5S Office and Shop Standards (shadow boards and “After” Pictures)
+ Develop 5S Sustainable Plan to include Procedure, Instruction or Checklist
+ Train Supervisors, Leads and corresponding employees for Procedures and 5S Implementation
+ May be required to perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
+ Computer software, Office 365 products – Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams.
+ Strong Communication Skills – speech, verbal and written.
+ Strong teamwork skills. Must be able to discuss project needs and progress.
+ Problem solving and troubleshooting skills are preferred.
Education and Experience:
+ Pursuing Engineering, Computer Science, or Related Technical Field.
+ Hands On Mechanical Abilities.
Working Conditions:
+ Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing / eye protection, gloves, and safety shoes.
+ Must be able to work in the office and non-climate-controlled shop at any time.
+ Frequent sitting or standing for extended period of time. Standard office environment. Occasional to frequent walking in and around manufacturing plant.
+ Must be able to lift 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.
